Once again, PLEASE add this guy...

He's good!

If this blog goes astray, please forgive me. I JUST now finished watching Slumdog Millionaire for the first time and I'm quite overwhelmed. For those of you who haven't seen it, I highly suggest you do!

Yes, and speaking of movies...

1. As some of you know I was sick these past few days. I even had to cancel a show (BOO!) which I HATE doing but there was no way I would've been ok to do it. So, instead, I did some online work and caught up on some movies I'd missed...let's run them down...

The Wrestler: Still not completely sure how I feel about this one. I think the acting was great. And props to Marisa Tomei! I normally can't stand her but I thought she was great. And she looked amazing! Anyway...this movie really made me think about my career. The ups and downs of it but mostly the downs. Life is indeed short. For those who haven't seen it I won't spoil anything, but I will say I liked the ending.

Milk: This movie is INSANELY well done. Penn is incredible!!! What an actor. And what a story. I wouldn't watch this very often because the rewatch value doesn't seem too high but it's amazing. I can see why it won so many awards.

Oldboy: Ok, wow. This is a Korean film that some friends brought over for me to watch. It's one of the most bizzare plots I've ever seen in my life. But it's also amazing. It's kind of hard to describe this one, but bascially a drunken Korean businessman gets abducted and thrown into a "prison" for FIFTEEN years...and he doesn't know why. The movie is about him finding out the truth once he's released. And the truth...is F'D UP!!!!

Red Eye: This was definitely one of the lowlights of the movie marathon. I had never seen it but I am a Cillian Murphy fan (ever since 28 Days Later) so I checked it out. Ya...bad decision. They just took a great concept and cheesed it out until the walls were dripping Velveeta. Oh well. Don't bother.

The Devil's Rejects: Holy shit dude, is this movie MESSED up!!! I guess I should've figured it out from "House of 1,000 Corpses" but good Lord, this movie is messed up. But strangely, the soundtrack is really good. Ha, it confused me indeed. You need a STRONG stomach for this one, I warn you. And we found it interesting that every man in this movie was like a nasty, longhaired, skank of a guy. And every woman looked banging! It just doesn't make sense. Oh well.

High Tension: This one I'd actually seen in the theater but wanted to watch it again. This is a French horror movie. Very gory...very well done. Basically, two French college students take a trip to one of the student's family's homes out in the French countryside to have some long study sessions. The first night they get there, a madman comes to the house in the middle of the night and starts killing EVERYONE...in some very messed up ways. And once again, you have no idea WHY this is happening until the end. And the end of THIS one is GREAT!!!!

The Ring: Obviously, I had seen this one already. I actually like this movie. I think it's well done and when I saw the end in the movie theater it actually scared me. It really did. I've even seen "Ringu" which is the Japanese movie that the American one copied. The only thing I don't like about Japanese horror movies...they're not scary! They're just weird. Then again, most American horror movies aren't scary either. They're just gore and suspense.

2. Rant time...I have officially become a foe of Men's pants measurements. Seriously, what the hell is going on here? How do you blatantly LIE about exact increments of measurement? I'm a 34X30 pant size. Well, actually 34X29 but who's counting. Anyway, it seems now that clothing retailers are trying to make the American public feel better about themselves. I keep buying 34X30, and they keep getting bigger!!! WTF??? If I went to Old Navy RIGHT now and bought a 34X30 pair of jeans, I guarantee you that it'd actually be at LEAST a 36X30, maybe even more. This is ridiculous. You can't just CHANGE the truth to make yourself feel better...unless you're the right wing. They somehow seem to get away with it.

I understand that women's clothing is different. A medium in one store can be completely different than in another. I learned that the hard way shopping for girlfriends. But we're guys!!! We have EXACT measurements on our pants. Stop lying to me!! I can take it!!!!

3. I'm going to tour!!! This fall, I'll be embarking on a "Struggle Fantastic" tour which will include the West Coast for the first time ever!!! If anyone would like to help out, I'd be MORE than grateful and willing to accept the help. It could be hosting a house concert in your living room, it could be a couch to offer, it could be a gas station gift card for my rental car, it could be help booking a show, it could be going to a movie with me on one of the nights off...anything at all. That would be great! I'm so excited for this!!! Dates to come soon...

4. I have a new favorite quote. I read it on http://www.Textsfromlastnight.com/ and I doubt it's originallly from there but I love it...

"If God's watching us, we might as well be entertaining"

Thanks for reading, as always.
